After this incident, an atmosphere of tension has been created in the entire area. Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Sanjay Nirupam has protested against the incident. After the incident, initially there was resentment among the local people regarding the police action. However, after the complaint was registered, the police arrested two women and a man. The investigation of the case is still going on and other accused are being searched.

The victim girls say that they were waiting for an auto near Malad station. During this time, he had an argument with a woman wearing a burqa. It is alleged that after this the woman called her known Muslim goons from Islampura. Within some time many fanatics reached the spot and started pushing and assaulting the Hindu girls. The girls claim that they were forcibly taken out of the auto and beaten by about 20 people. Some part of the incident is also said to be recorded in CCTV cameras.

Some social and religious organizations reacted against this incident. Hundreds of workers, led by Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leaders Sanjay Nirupam and Mithun Singh, gathered at the spot protesting against the case and recited Hanuman Chalisa. He says that this program was done with the aim of maintaining peace and demanding justice.

Terming the incident as mob violence, Nirupam raised the question that if they considered themselves men then why were 20 people attacking the girls together? He also said that Mumbai is considered a safe city, but in some areas, the situation regarding law and order is becoming worrisome. He alleged that earlier too in such cases, action had been stopped by applying pressure, but this should not happen this time. He urged the police to check the CCTV footage and ensure early arrest of the culprits, so that the safety of women can be maintained.

The police and administration have also appealed to the citizens to maintain peace, not pay attention to any kind of rumors and cooperate in maintaining law and order.
