Chaitra Navratri 2026 Rules: Today is the fourth day of the holy festival of Chaitra Navratri. This day has been dedicated to Maa Kushmanda, the fourth form of Goddess Durga. Devotees are worshiping the Mother Goddess and fasting as per the rituals. Special rules for worshiping Mata Rani and fasting during Navratri are mentioned in Hindu religious scriptures. It is necessary to follow these rules.
Mother Durga gets angry due to mistakes made during fasting and puja and the puja is not completed. Due to some mistakes the fast is also broken. The purity and sanctity of mind and body is destroyed. This is the reason why some work is prohibited during Navratri. It is believed that by doing these forbidden things during Navratri, Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, gets angry and goes away. Due to which the house becomes poor.
Do not make these mistakes during Navratri
Do not cut hair, nails: Never cut hair, cut nails or shave your beard during Navratri. To do so is impure. There are fights and disputes in the house. Financial problems arise. Mother Lakshmi leaves the house. Also keep in mind the auspicious and inauspicious days of cutting nails and hair.
Do not consume common salt: During Navratri, do not consume normal salt even by mistake. During this period, the fasting person should consume only rock salt.
Do not eat red chillies and hot spices: Consumption of red chilli and spices is prohibited during Navratri. Do not use any kind of hot spices.
Do not eat tomatoes and these vegetables: Do not consume vegetables like tomato, brinjal, bottle gourd etc. during Navratri.
Do not bring Tamasic things: Do not bring or eat any Tamasic thing in the house during Navratri.
Do not consume tobacco and drugs: Do not consume any kind of intoxicant during Navratri fast, it breaks the fast.
Don’t get angry and abuse: Do not get angry at anyone during Navratri. Abuse someone. By doing this the fast is broken.
