Aircraft losses – how many and on what types of targets?
- America has lost 16 aircraft since the beginning of the conflict.
- 12 MQ-9 Reaper drones destroyed, each drone cost around $56.5 million
- 3 F-15 Strike Eagle fighter jets destroyed due to ‘friendly fire’ in Kuwait
- 1 KC-135 refueling tanker crashes in Iraq, 6 crew members killed
Additionally, on March 19, an F-35 stealth fighter jet was attacked. According to the US Central Command, the pilots are safe, but if confirmed, it would be the first time in history that an F-35 was successfully attacked.
Israel also made claims that several of its drones were destroyed in Iran. Altogether 28 US and Israeli aircraft were affected in the conflict.
