PM Narendra Modi’s government has given two big gifts to Bihar. The 4-lane Greenfield access-controlled Mokama-Munger section of the Buxar-Bhagalpur High-speed Corridor will be constructed. It will cost Rs 4447.38 crore.

Bihar infra projects: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved the construction of the 4-lane Greenfield Access-Controlled Mokama-Munger section of the Buxar-Bhagalpur High-speed Corridor in Bihar. The project will be made under Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM). Its length is 82.400 km and the cost is Rs 4447.38 crore. This section passes through important regional cities like Mokama, Barhia, Lakhisarai, Jamalpur, Munger and connects to Bhagalpur.

Munger-Jamalpur-Bhagalpur belt emerging as industrial area

Munger-Jamalpur-Bhagalpur belt is emerging as a major industrial area in East Bihar. It is focused on the Ordnance Factory (proposed as part of the existing gun factory and the Ministry of Defense as part of the Ordnance Factory Corridor), Locomotive Workshop (in Jamalpur), Food Processing (ITC) in Munger and related logistics and warehousing hubs.

Bhagalpur is a cloth and logistics center. Barhia is emerging as an area for food packaging, processing and agricultural -ware -ware. Increased economic activity in the region is expected to increase freight and traffic on Mokama-Munger section in future.

Car will run at a speed of 100km/h at Buxar-Bhagalpur high-speed corridor

On this road, vehicles will be able to run at a speed of 100km/h. The average speed can be 80km/h. This 4-lane access-controlled corridor will reduce the total travel time to about 1.5 hours by providing safe and fast connectivity for both passenger and cargo vehicles.

According to government estimates, the proposed project of 82.40km will create direct employment of about 14.83 lakh human-day and indirect employment of 18.46 lakh human-day. The project will also create additional employment opportunities due to an increase in economic activity in the area around the proposed corridor.

Approval of doubling of Bhagalpur-Dumka-Rampurhat single railway line section

Along with this, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs also approved the doubling of Bhagalpur – Dumka – Rampurhat Single Railway Line section (177 km) in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Its total cost will be Rs 3,169 crore.

The government said, “Multi-tracking proposal will make operations easier and reduce congestion, providing necessary infrastructure development on the busiest sections of Indian Railways.
