Bhookhi Mata Temple Rituals: Although every temple in Ujjain, a religious city of Madhya Pradesh, is miraculous and divine, but the glory of the Bhukhi Mata Temple situated on the banks of Shipra is extremely unique. Along with animal sacrifice, liquor is also offered to the Bhuchi Mata and Bhuvaneshwari Mata enshrined here. It is said that earlier there was a practice of human sacrifice in the temple, but it was abolished by Emperor Vikramaditya after pleasing the Mother Goddess. Now Mata Shipra is sitting on the banks and also protects the city of Ujjain. Twice a year, on the Ashtami of Navratri, the city worship of Mata is done by Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad and administration.
Vijay Chauhan, priest of Bhukhi Mata temple, told that there is a temple of Mata Bhuvaneshwari and Bhukhi Mata on the banks of Shipra river. It is said about this that human sacrifice was offered to the Mother Goddess every day, but Emperor Vikramaditya, showing his cleverness, ended this practice of human sacrifice and pleased the Mother and established her on the banks of Shipra forever. The special thing about the temple is that every wish made here is fulfilled. The practice of human sacrifice in the temple has been stopped, but even today, to fulfill the vow made in the temple, a large number of devotees sacrifice animals every day and liquor is also offered to the Mother Goddess.
sacrifices had to be made every day
He told that out of 64 Yogini, one hungry mother had to make a sacrifice every day. When Emperor Vikramaditya came to know about this, to break this tradition, one day he cooked delicious dishes and kept them in an effigy. When the hungry mother came to eat this effigy, she became happy as soon as she ate it and asked for a boon. At the same time, Emperor Vikramaditya appeared and asked for a boon that now the mother would always have to live on the banks of Shipra. She will protect everyone from here. Mother gave a boon to Emperor Vikramaditya, but keeping in mind his hunger and thirst, a city puja is held twice a year, in which along with the worship of Mother, a stream of liquor is also offered to him.
Devotees come from far and wide to fulfill their vow
It is said that devotees from far and wide come to this temple to worship the Mother Goddess and seek her blessings. Worship is done in the temple not only during Navratri but also for 365 days because the hungry mother is in the form of Kalika, that is why Tantra devotees also reach the temple in large numbers, who perform yagya rituals here with special wishes. It is said that by offering green lemon and brown cola to Mother Goddess, she becomes happy soon.
