The expansion of road network in the state has decided the direction of development. Since 2017, 63,383 km of roads have been widened and strengthened, while 35,433 km of rural roads have been constructed to connect villages to the main routes. The average speed of road construction of 19 kilometers per day shows the rapid progress of the state. Along with this, traffic has been made easier by constructing 1,740 bridges. Extensive work to connect tehsil and block headquarters with better roads has also been completed.

UP has the highest expressway network in the country

Uttar Pradesh has today become a major center of the country’s expressway network. About 55 percent of the total expressways of the country are located in the state. Projects like Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway and Gorakhpur Link Expressway have given a new direction to connectivity by reducing regional disparities. Ganga Expressway, about 99 percent of which has been completed, is going to prove to be a historic project connecting the eastern and western parts of the state. Apart from this, new projects like Vindhya Expressway will also further expand the scope of development.

UP number-1 in air connectivity

Uttar Pradesh has also made significant progress in the field of air connectivity. At present there are 16 airports operating in the state, out of which 4 are international. Noida International Airport located at Jewar is moving towards becoming a major aviation hub of the country. After its launch, Uttar Pradesh will become the state with the largest number of international airports in the country, which will boost tourism, trade and investment. The state has also strengthened its position in the fields of railways and waterways. With about 16,000 km long rail network, Uttar Pradesh is among the states with the largest rail network in the country. At the same time, the connection of 11 national waterways is giving it a new identity in the field of logistics. The country’s first multi-modal terminal in Varanasi and the freight village developed in 100 acres are making the state a major center of export and freight transportation. Infrastructure in the water sector has also been expanded rapidly.
