3-year-old dies after falling off 12th-floor balcony at Greater Noida society, was alone at home

New Delhi: A 3-year-old boy died after he fell from the 12th floor of a residential society in Greater Noida on Friday. The toddler fell off the balcony of Gaur City 7th Avenue, a high-rise society under the Bisrakh police station area, after losing balance.

The incident took place Friday afternoon when the boy’s mom went out to pick up his elder sibling from a tuition class. The toddler was sleeping at that time. According to neighbours, when the toddler woke up and did not find his mother at home, he went to the balcony and climbed onto a chair, lost his balance, and accidentally slipped and fell off the apartment.

According to initial reports, the child was alone at home when the incident took place. After hearing a loud thud, residents rushed to the spot and alerted police. When the mother came back home and got to know about the incident, she fell unconscious.

The child was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, but he was declared dead on arrival by doctors.

After receiving information about the incident, police officials reached the spot to ascertain further details. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination.

The incident has left the residents, especially parents with kids, in shock and has also raised concerns about the safety of children in high-rise societies.
