In an important decision, the 8th Pay Commission has extended the time limit for responding to the suggestions sought through the 18-point questionnaire. This deadline has now been extended by 15 days to March 31, whereas earlier it was March 16. The extension of the deadline means that central government employees, pensioners and other beneficiaries will get more time to share their views regarding the formulation of 8th Pay Commission policies. Work on these policies is still going on. Beneficiaries can answer all 18 questions till March 31, 2026. The feedback received by the Central Pay Commission will help in deciding the salary structure, allowances and policies for central government employees and pensioners under the 8th Pay Commission.

Who can give suggestions to the 8th Pay Commission?

The complete list of people who can send their suggestions to the government through the 18-point questionnaire of the 8th Pay Commission is given on the official website of the 8th CPC. It is written on the website that the last date to reply is Tuesday, March 31, 2026. All answers should be given through MyGov portal only. The Commission will not consider answers written on paper, email or PDF file. Here is the complete list of people and organizations who can participate in the 8th Pay Commission survey —

  • Employees of ministries and departments,
  • Employees of Union Territories,
  • Judicial officers, officers/employees of courts, members of regulatory bodies,
  • Associations or unions of serving or retired employees, pensioners, researchers, academicians, and
  • Authorized/nominated nodal/sub-nodal officers of Ministries, Departments, Union Territories and offices.

8th Pay Commission: How to give your answers online?

People or organizations who want to give their recommendations regarding the 8th Pay Commission can do so by visiting https://www.mygov.in/mygov-survey/8th-central-pay-commission-questionnaire/. People need to log in or sign up using their mobile number or email ID, and then enter the 6-digit OTP to get started. After this, they can give their answers and opinions on the 18-point questionnaire and submit their answers. According to the 8th CPC website, the names of the respondents will not be disclosed and the questionnaire responses will be analyzed in aggregate, without revealing any identity.

The Narendra Modi-led government first announced the 8th Pay Commission in January 2025. A few months later, on November 3 last year, the Finance Ministry formally notified it. Further, the government has already approved the ‘Terms of Reference’ (ToR) giving a time limit of 18 months to the 8th CPC to give its recommendations for revision of pay, pension and other allowances of central employees and pensioners. The 8th Pay Commission is being headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai. Pro. Pulak Ghosh and Pankaj Jain are serving as two other members of the committee. The policies of the 8th Pay Commission are expected to come into effect from January 1, 2026, which is in line with the standard revision cycle of 10 years.
