Tyler Fay Achieves Historic No-Hitter for Alabama Against Florida

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – Tyler Fay made history by pitching Alabama’s first nine-inning, complete-game no-hitter in 84 years, leading the Crimson Tide to a 6-0 victory over Florida on Friday night.

Fay struck out 13 batters and retired the final 10 Gators, concluding the game with a flyout from Brendan Lawson. The redshirt junior from Doniphan, Nebraska, achieved a career-high 132 pitches, with 85 of those being strikes.

Game Highlights

Fay, who had previously never pitched more than seven innings in a game, issued two walks during the match, one in the second inning and another in the sixth. The Gators, ranked as high as No. 17 with a record of 19-4 and 3-1 in SEC play, faced a formidable challenge from Fay.

The victory marks a significant milestone for the Crimson Tide, who had not seen a complete-game, nine-inning no-hitter since Eddie Wocar achieved the feat against Mississippi on April 24, 1942.

Florida’s No-Hitter Record

This no-hitter represents the first time Florida has been no-hit since June 1, 1963, when Tom McMillan from Jacksonville accomplished the same feat in a seven-inning game.
