Janaki Ammal, mother of CP Radhakrishnan, who was elected new Vice President, has told why he has named his son Radhakrishnan. He said that after 62 years, the matter said by her husband has come true. He is very happy with this.
Vice President CP Radhakrishnan: NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan won a major victory in the Vice Presidential election 2025 on Tuesday. He was elected the 15th Vice President of India. Radhakrishnan will also be the Chairman of Rajya Sabha. CP Radhakrishnan’s mother Janaki Ammal shared a unique story behind her name.
Mother named after President Radhakrishnan
Talking to the news agency ANI, Janaki Ammal said, “When my son was born Radhakrishnan was the President. He was the first teacher. I was also a teacher. I named my son after his name. At that time my husband looked at me and asked if you want this name because you want your son to become President one day after 62 years, my husband has said what has come true today. I am very happy for this.”
CP Radhakrishnan won the Vice Presidential election by 152 votes
In the Vice Presidential election, there was a contest between NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan and opposition parties candidate B Sudarshan Reddy. Radhakrishnan won this election by a margin of 152 votes. He needed 391 votes to win the election. Radhakrishnan succeeded in getting 452 votes due to cross voting by opposition MPs. Reddy got 300 votes. 315 MPs of the opposition voted.
Who is CP Radhakrishnan?
Radhakrishnan, a soft-spoken and non-nature, is a senior BJP leader. People also call him “Pachai Tamizan”. He was the Governor of Maharashtra before nomination in the Vice Presidential election. Radhakrishnan’s political visit began in the 1970s. He joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh during his teenage age. By 1974, he became a member of the State Executive Committee of Jana Sangh. He is from the socially and economically influential Kongag Vellalar Gounder community in Western Tamil Nadu. BJP’s organizational columns are considered in Tamil Nadu.

Radhakrishnan became the Tamil Nadu Secretary of BJP in 1996. He served as the Tamil Nadu BJP President between 2003 and 2006. His national political life began during the reign of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He was elected to the Lok Sabha twice from Coimbatore.
