Bullets were fired after an altercation

According to preliminary information, there was an altercation between Surya Pratap Singh and accused student Manjeet Chauhan over some issue on Friday morning around 10:30 am. It is being told that as the matter escalated, both the students were called by the college administration for talks. Meanwhile, the accused suddenly took out a pistol and started firing at Surya Pratap. According to eyewitnesses, the accused fired bullets directly aiming at the head, chest and stomach.

Initial investigation by the police has revealed that a total of eight bullets were hit in the student’s body. Four of these bullets were in the chest, while the rest were in the head and stomach. After the firing, accused Manjeet Chauhan threw the pistol there and ran away from the spot. Police have recovered a pistol and five cartridges from the spot. The forensic team also reached the spot and collected evidence.

Fellow students first took the injured Surya Pratap to the district hospital, from where the doctors, seeing his critical condition, referred him to BHU Trauma Center. But during treatment there, doctors declared him dead.
