IPL 2026: SLC issues NOCs for Chameera, Nissanka and Kamindu Mendis

New Delhi: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Friday issued a No Objection Certificate ( NOC) to few cricketers to participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Dushmantha Chameera, Pathum Nissanka, and Kamindu Mendis were handed NOCs from SLC after the trio successfully completed its physical performances tests.

All-rounder Mendis is part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise after he was retained by them for this edition while Chameera and Nissanka belong to the Delhi Capitals unit. The SLC on March 20 confirmed the same via a statement saying that these three players have been handed the NOCs while the rest of them who have requested to participate in the cash-rich league will only be issues after passing the mandatory Physical Performance Test.

SLC’s statement confirms trios participate

‘Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) wishes to announce that players who have requested to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will be issued only upon successfully passing SLC’s mandatory Physical Performance Test,’ the governing body said in a statement.

‘At present, SLC is conducting an eight-week specialized physical training program for all nationally contracsed players. This initiative aims to enhance players’ physical performance standards in preparation for upcoming international assignments.’

‘Accordingly, Dushmantha Chameera, Pathum Nissanka, and Kamindu Mendis have been issued NOCs to participate in the IPL,’ the SLC added.

Meanwhile, there are some other Sri Lankan players who are yet to get their NOCs as they need to pass their physical tests. Nuwan Thushara, who plays for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Wanindu Hasaranga (Lucknow Super Giants), Eshan Malinga (SRH) and Matheesha Pathirana (Kolkata Knight Riders) will have to wait for their certificates.

All these players are still undergoing rehabilitation to recover from their respective injuries sustained and the all of them will undergo the tests ipon completion of their recovery and rehabilitation programs. While Thushara will have to wait for the outcome of his physical performance test, the others are yet ti undergo the test itself.
