These days, the eyes of lakhs of central government employees are fixed on the 8th Pay Commission. Every employee wants to know how much his salary will increase after the implementation of the new pay commission.

Although the final announcement of the new pay scale and fitment factor has not been made by the government yet, the salary increase is being estimated on the basis of different possible fitment factors.

New basic salary will be decided by fitment factor

The most important basis for determining the new salary of employees in the Pay Commission is the fitment factor. Currently, possible fitment factors like 1.92, 2.28 and 2.57 are under discussion. Employee organizations demand an even higher fitment factor, but the final decision will be taken by the Central Government.

How much salary can Level-1 employees get?

The current basic salary of employees falling in Level-1 is Rs 18 thousand. If 1.92 fitment factor is applied then it may increase to around Rs 34,560. At the same time, it is estimated to reach around Rs 41,040 on 2.28 fitment factor and around Rs 46,260 if 2.57 fitment factor is applied.

How much can be the benefit from level-2 to level-5?

The current basic salary of Level-2 is Rs 19,900, which can reach between Rs 38 thousand to Rs 51 thousand depending on different fitment factors.

The basic salary of Level-3 employees may increase from Rs 21,700 to approximately Rs 41 thousand to Rs 55 thousand.

In Level-4, the current basic salary of Rs 25,500 can potentially reach between Rs 48 thousand to Rs 65 thousand.

At the same time, the current basic salary of Level-5 employees of Rs 29,200 is expected to increase to around Rs 56 thousand to Rs 75 thousand.

How much benefit can employees get from level-6 to level-10?

The basic salary of employees working in Level-6 can increase from Rs 35,400 to around Rs 68 thousand to Rs 91 thousand.

The current basic salary of Level-7 employees is Rs 44,900. According to possible calculations, it can reach from Rs 86 thousand to Rs 1.15 lakh.

In Level-8, the current basic salary of Rs 47,600 can increase from approximately Rs 91 thousand to Rs 1.22 lakh.

The basic salary of Level-9 employees may increase from Rs 53,100 to around Rs 1.02 lakh to Rs 1.36 lakh.

Whereas the current basic salary of Level-10 officers is Rs 56,100, which can increase to around Rs 1.08 lakh to Rs 1.44 lakh according to the possible fitment factor.

Not only basic salary, allowances will also increase

After the implementation of the new basic salary, many other allowances of the employees are also likely to increase. House Rent Allowance (HRA), Traveling Allowance (TA) and other allowances are decided on the basis of basic salary, hence their increase can lead to a big difference in the total monthly income of the employees. At the same time, after the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, Dearness Allowance (DA) can be started again from zero under the new system and after this it will be increased from time to time.

Still waiting for official announcement

At present all these figures are estimates based on possible fitment factor. The Central Government has not yet announced the new fitment factor or revised pay scale under the 8th Pay Commission. In such a situation, the final decision on how much the actual salary of the employees will increase will be clear only after the official announcement of the government and implementation of the commission’s recommendations.
