This decision is going to directly provide relief to the weaker sections of the society.
Pension increase: strengthening social security
The Chief Minister clarified that although it was not mentioned in the budget speech, the government has decided to increase the pension amount. Now the pension will be increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 per month. This step will not only provide economic support but will also strengthen the dignity and self-reliance of the destitute sections.
In fact, BJP of Uttar Pradesh had also made such promises in its manifesto, and this announcement is being considered as a step in that direction. In view of rising inflation and cost of living, this increase can prove to be a relief for millions of families.
Focus on housing schemes and poverty alleviation
Comparing the previous governments, the Chief Minister said that earlier limited assistance was given in housing schemes, due to which the beneficiaries did not get adequate support. The present government is providing assistance up to Rs 2.5 lakh in urban areas and Rs 1.20 lakh in rural areas. Along with this, there is also a provision for toilet construction and MNREGA wages.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also claims that due to the holistic schemes, more than 6 crore people have come out of multidimensional poverty. There is also talk of bringing a new housing scheme for sanitation workers and construction workers in the upcoming budget.
