Postmortem confirmed death by drowning
Considering the seriousness of the case, a panel of doctors conducted postmortem. Initial reports state the cause of death as drowning. However, rape has not been confirmed in the postmortem. Questions raised on uncle’s story
In this case, suspicion is also increasing on the uncle who accompanied the girl. The family alleges that he was found in an intoxicated state on the banks of Gomti after the incident. At present the police have taken him into custody and started interrogating him.
The girl did not know how to swim

Aunt was taking care of both brother and sister
According to family members, the girl’s parents did not live with her. The mother had left home in her childhood, while the father had remarried. Aunty is in bad condition and has demanded strict action against the culprit.
