Google launches ‘Vibe Coding’ in AI Studio, turning prompts into full-stack apps

New Delhi: Google has unveiled a major upgrade to its AI Studio platform, introducing a new “full-stack vibe coding” experience aimed at simplifying how applications are built. The update enables users to build full-fledged production-ready apps out of basic text prompts without having to change tools or manually write complex code. The company is framing this as a move towards easier software development and an AI-driven one.

The main upgrade is the new Antigravity coding agent, which enables the user to go through the idea-to-deployment process in a very fast way. The agent is able to know the project context, deal with multi-step editing and integrate tools and structures automatically. This will be aimed at both the novice and pro developers who are interested in accelerating the development of apps.

From prototype to production

The new platform allows the users to create more than mere prototypes. It currently has real-time multiplayer capabilities with which developers may develop collaborative applications, games, and shared tools. Persistent sessions are also introduced by the system, implying that the user can resume their work on the other devices.

Built-in backend and security

Firebase has been directly incorporated into Google, with the addition of backend functionality being easier. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent will recognise the instances when an application requires a database or a login system and propose establishing Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication. This ensures safe storage and user sign-ins without having to be manually configured.

Smarter tools for modern web development

The new coding experience embraces the current web framework and tools. Nowadays, developers may create apps in Next.js in addition to React and Angular. It also has automatic library installation like animation tools or UI components with the use of the agent, which assists users to produce polished applications quicker.

The platform enables users to integrate their apps with real-life services. It is able to add some API keys to services such as a payment system or a mapping tool without security concerns. These credentials are secured in a system secret built-in Secrets Manager, which minimises security threats.

According to Google, the contextual understanding has been enhanced by the Antigravity agent. It is able to trace a project history and structure; hence, code suggestions are more accurate and efficient. This will allow quicker iteration and management of intricate app requirements.

The company announced that already hundreds of thousands of applications have been built using the improved version of AI Studio, even internally. Google is also trying to do more integrations, and one of them is the ability to have apps integrate with Workspace products such as Drive and Sheets. It is also under development to have a one-click transition between AI Studio and Antigravity deployment.

This update is moving Google to the next step of creating the full-scale applications, which may be as easy as the description of the idea.
