New Delhi: Australian and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Jack Edwards has been ruled out of IPL 2026. According to a report in Cricbuzz, the 25-year-old, who was picked by SRH for Rs 3 crore in the IPL 2026 mini-auction, will miss the entire 19th edition of the tournament due to an unspecified injury.
The all-rounder earned his maiden IPL contract after delivering an impressive performance for Australia A in the three-match one-day series against India A last year.
Edwards made his T20I debut for Australia in January 2026, against Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore under Travis Head’s captaincy. But he only managed to score 5 runs off six balls, and conceded 25 runs in two overs.
Ellis, Curran sidelined from IPL 2026
Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis and England all-rounder Sam Curran are also ruled out of the IPL 2026. Ellis has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury, and Curran is out due to a groin injury.
Ellis’s absence is a massive setback for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) because he was set to be a crucial bowler for the five-time champions this season after they decided to part ways with Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) will also be without Curran’s services. He was signed by RR last year ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction in a trade deal involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson.
In Curran’s absence, South African all-rounder Donovan Ferreira is likely to play the finisher role for the Jaipur-based franchise in the IPL 2026.
New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson, who was retained by Punjab Kings (PBKS) ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, will miss the opening few matches of IPL 2026 to spend time with his newborn child and wife. According to a PTI report, Ferguson will miss as many as seven games in the 19th edition of the IPL, which will begin on March 28.
