Alia Bhatt Announces “Don’t Be Shy” Rom-Com For Prime Video

Alia Bhatt has announced “Don’t Be Shy,” a coming-of-age romantic comedy produced under her Eternal Sunshine Productions banner for Prime Video.

The film marks the directorial debut of Sreeti Mukerji, who previously assisted on Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Brahmastra.

It centers on Shyamili “Shy” Das, a 20-year-old whose meticulously planned life unravels unexpectedly, blending friendship, love, and self-discovery themes. Alia, producing alongside sister Shaheen Bhatt with co-producers Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani, emphasized backing authentic stories and fresh voices at Prime Video’s 2026 slate event.

The announcement at the “It Starts Here” press conference unveiled the first-look poster, with an October 2026 streaming release targeted. Notably, the cast comprises newcomers from outside the film industry, aligning with Eternal Sunshine’s mission since its 2022 launch with Darlings on Netflix. Alia expressed excitement over Sreeti’s passion, promising a sincere narrative for diverse audiences.

This project expands Prime Video’s robust 2026 lineup, including Matka King, Naagzilla, and Hrithik Roshan’s production ventures like Mess. Eternal Sunshine continues championing women-led stories, building on Bhatt’s producer credits amid her busy acting slate with Alpha and Love & War.

The rom-com fits Bollywood’s OTT trend toward relatable youth tales, leveraging Alia’s star power for global reach on the platform. Industry observers anticipate strong reception for its fresh casting and emotional depth, positioning it as a key highlight in Prime Video’s Hindi original strategy.
