Navratri Special Train Food: Railways has made special arrangements for passengers during the nine-day festival Navratri, which runs from March 19 to March 27. During this period, Railways will provide pure and healthy food without garlic and onion to the fasting people traveling in trains. On the occasion of Navratri, Railways has decided to serve food without onion and garlic in the pantry car. This facility is being started especially for the fasting passengers, so that they can eat food according to their faith.

Food menus will also be changed at stations

The railway administration has also instructed the catering stall operators running at the station to make changes in their menu during Navratri. On the occasion of Navratri, a large number of devotees travel by train, hence it is important to respect their religious sentiments.

Strict instructions to catering staff

Instructions have been given to the catering staff that the food should be prepared completely as per Satvik and set standards. Fruits, juices, milk and different types of snacks will be given to passengers in trains.

Special food for those observing fast

Railways has also prepared a special Vrat Thali for the fasting people. This would include dishes made with rock salt, such as:

  • potato-cumin
  • Sago Kheer
  • Other satvik dishes
  • Banana, apple and other fruits will also be provided in breakfast.

Different types of thalis will be available for the passengers:

  • First plate: Fruits, dumplings and curd
  • Second plate: Paratha, Sabudana Khichdi and three types of vegetables
  • Third plate: Potato curry, two parathas and sago kheer
  • Fourth Thali: Aloo and Paneer Paratha

The fruit meal will also include buckwheat pakodas, curd, sago khichdi, kheer, water chestnuts and dishes made from fasting spices.
