Hindu Nav Varsh 2026 Rules: Hindu New Year is considered very special in Sanatan Dharma. New Year starts every year from the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. This year the Hindu New Year is starting from tomorrow, since tomorrow is Thursday, hence the king of this New Year will be Jupiter, the guru of the gods and Mars, the commander of the ministerial planets. This will be Vikram Samvat 2083 and this will be ‘Raudra Samvatsar’. New Year is especially considered a symbol of new beginnings, prosperity and happiness.

Buying inauspicious gifts: Avoid giving or buying any inauspicious gift or item to anyone on the first day of Hindu New Year. Especially do not buy any kind of sharp weapons like knives, machetes or such items which are symbols of mourning or death.
Consumption of intoxicants and vengeful things: Avoid consuming intoxicants on the first day of the New Year. Intoxicants affect the body and mind. By consuming drugs on this day, you can remain intoxicated for the whole year. Do not consume tamasic things on this day.
Insult someone: Do not insult or abuse any person on New Year’s Day. This may disturb your peace. Also, it can cause obstacles in your life throughout the year.
Anger: Don’t get angry on the first day of the new year. Do not keep your purse, safe or locker empty on this day. Mother Lakshmi may get angry by doing this.
