Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav said – The new year starting from Chaitra Shukla Pratipada is a symbol of our cultural consciousness, scientific vision and natural way of life. This year Vikram Samvat 2083 has started. It is a matter of pride and pride for Madhya Pradesh that the glorious tradition of Indian chronology started from Ujjaini.

Started with the coronation of Emperor Vikramaditya

Vikram Samvat is a symbol of the consciousness of Indian culture and the identity of the nation. Emperor Vikramaditya is an example of justice, bravery, patience, wisdom and good governance. By defeating the foreign invaders, he protected the nation and glorified the Indian culture. Ideal traditions of good governance were established during his reign. The ideals of justice and policy that he established are a source of inspiration for governance and administration even today.

Mention of Vikramaditya’s tradition of good governance

  • It is found in the stories of ‘Shinhasan Battisi’. This is proof of the ideal governance system in which the state was run with the help of capable ministers, scholars and policy-savvy people. The way Emperor Vikramaditya developed knowledge, culture and administrative system is a symbol of the superiority of the Indian state tradition.
  • ‘Vikromotsav-2026’ is being organized in the state with the aim of spreading the personality of Emperor Vikramaditya and various dimensions of Indian knowledge tradition to the people. This 139-day festival, which will run from 12 February 2026 to 30 June 2026, will set a record for the longest event. In this, efforts are being made to convey the life, ideals and achievements of Emperor Vikramaditya to the society through various cultural, historical and intellectual programs.
  • Ujjaini has been the center of cultural and scientific consciousness of India since ancient times. The holy city of Baba Mahakal has been related to time calculation, astronomy and spiritual practice. The system of time calculation developed by our ancestors thousands of years ago by deeply studying the movement of planets and the position of constellations is still a matter of surprise for the world. Ujjain’s observatory and Vedic calendar are proof of our knowledge tradition.
  • It is a matter of happiness for us that the world’s first Vikramaditya Vedic Clock was restored under the guidance of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This clock is an important attempt to revive the tradition of Indian time calculation in the modern era.
  • Indian New Year is the festival of rebirth of nature. At this time, nature is enriched with new life, new consciousness and new creation spread on the earth. Navasamvatsar has different names celebrated across the country. Somewhere it is celebrated as Gudi Padwa, somewhere Ugadi, somewhere Chaiti Chand and somewhere Navroz. Chaitra Navratri also starts from this day. The nine days of Navratri are an opportunity for meditation, self-purification and worship of Shakti. In the Indian way of life, festivals and traditions pave the way for the overall development of the individual and society.
  • New Year is being organized in Madhya Pradesh with new resolutions for development and public welfare. On the occasion of the natural festival of Navsrijan, I am happy to inform that this year is being celebrated as Farmer Welfare Year in Madhya Pradesh. Agriculture is the backbone of the economy of our state and farmers are the cornerstone of the economy, hence many important decisions have been taken to increase the income of farmers, make agriculture profitable and strengthen the rural economy. This year we have held the first agriculture cabinet meeting at Bhilat Baba Devasthal Nagalwadi in Barwani district. In this, schemes worth Rs 27 thousand 500 crore were approved for agricultural development and welfare.
  • Schemes have been implemented in the state to encourage modern technologies in the agriculture sector, expansion of irrigation facilities, promotion of natural farming and value addition of agricultural products. Our aim is that farmers should increase production and earn additional income through agro-based industries and become self-reliant.
  • Under the guidance of the illustrious Prime Minister, we are moving forward on the path of development with heritage. Accordingly, work is being done on the conservation and development of historical, cultural and religious places in the state. Omkareshwar, Ujjain, Maihar and other major pilgrimage places are developing in the form of spiritual tourism. I am happy to inform that all the preparations for the Simhastha festival to be held in Ujjain in the year 2028 are in progress. Along with this, Indian culture and spiritual tradition is being connected to the new generation through schemes like Shri Ram Vanagaman Path and Shri Krishna Pathey.
  • Celebration of Indian New Year inspires us to conserve nature. Our tradition is to take bath in clean water before sunrise on the day of Gudi Padwa and offer Arghya to the Sun. The tradition of offering Arghya has a message of purity and conservation of water sources. With this spirit of water conservation, “Jal Ganga Augmentation Campaign” is being started in Madhya Pradesh from today. In this third state level campaign starting from Shipra bank Ujjain on New Year Pratipada, the water sources of the state will be protected with traditional methods of water conservation and new technology and innovations.
  • I urge the people of the state to make Jal Ganga Augmentation Abhiyan a mass movement. Today, on the occasion of nature’s new creation, let us take a pledge to build a developed Madhya Pradesh. With new consciousness and new awakening, let us all move together towards the new welfare of the state and become partners in building a developed India.
  • I am confident that the new year will prove to be a year of progress, prosperity and new achievements for Madhya Pradesh. Best wishes to all of you for the new year for your happy, prosperous and joyful life.
