New Delhi: The T20 World Cup 2026 final between India and New Zealand has set a global record for the highest concurrent streams for a live event on a digital platform. ICC revealed record streaming numbers for the final, which was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 08.
India produced a dominant performance in the much-awaited clash to thrash New Zealand by 96 runs and clinch their second straight T20 World Cup title, becoming the first team to achieve the feat. ICC has revealed that the concurrent streams reached a staggering 72.5 million globally during the final.
72.5 million is peak concurrent numbers for any live event on a digital platform, highlighting cricket’s growing popularity across the globe. The T20 World Cup 2026 was co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka and turned out to be a great success, with the top 20 teams from across the globe producing some enthralling encounters during the showpiece event.

While the usual heavyweights like India, South Africa and England proved their mettle in the tournament, the T20 World Cup 2026 also witnessed some spirited performances from associate nations, who gave a good account of themselves against the best teams in the world. The likes of Italy, Nepal, Netherlands and USA made heads turn with their performances during the tournament.
India outclassed New Zealand in final
India thoroughly outclassed New Zealand across all departments in the final to register a thumping 96-run victory. Asked to bat first, India made their intent clear from the word go as Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma got the hosts off to a flyer. Samson slammed a brilliant 89, while Abhishek slammed a quickfire 81 to set the stage for a huge total.
Ishan Kishan joined the party with a 25-ball 54 while Shivam Dube produced a fiery cameo of an unbeaten 8-ball 26 as India posted a massive 255/5 in 20 overs, the highest total in a T20 World Cup final. Jasprit Bumrah picked up a four-wicket haul to help India skittle out New Zealand for 159 runs with an over to spare in their run chase to hand India a commanding victory.
India became the first team to win back-to-back T20 World Cup titles and also the first to win the prestigious trophy at home, etching their name in history.
