‘Give me poison’: Kannada actor Darshan breaks down during hearing; judge rejects transfer plea

New Delhi: A Bengaluru court on Tuesday rejected Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa’s plea to be transferred from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison to Ballari jail.

Darshan, an accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, appeared via video conference before the 57th CCH court.

During the hearing, he broke down and reportedly told the judge: “I don’t want anything for anyone, please give me poison…”

He also complained: “It has been nearly a month since I have seen sunlight. My hands are getting a fungal infection… Life here has become unbearable.”

The judge admonished him, stating: “You cannot say such things,” after which Darshan nodded and remained silent.

While rejecting his transfer request, the court granted limited relief, permitting movement within the jail and allowing extra bedding, pillows, and bedsheets as per the prison manual.

The court observed that since there was no violation of prison rules, Darshan can continue to be lodged in the central prison at Bengaluru.
