In many states of the country, there is a situation of heavy rains and floods these days. Due to continuous rains, water is collected, due to which the number of dirt and mosquitoes increases rapidly. In such a situation, infection and infectious diseases start spreading. This season proves even more difficult for children because their immunity is weaker than the elders. The speed of spreading diseases in school children becomes further intensified. In such a situation, the care and vigilance of children becomes more important than before.

Unit Head Dr. Subhash Giri in the Department of Medicine at RML Hospital It is said that there are many negative effects on the health of children during that time and floods. Children’s immunity is not fully developed, due to which they are vulnerable to infection quickly. Flood water makes clean drinking water dirty. Due to this, children may have problems like stomach upset, diarrhea and vomiting. In addition, playing in dirty water or getting wet again and again can cause colds, fungal infections and skin problems. Long -term moisture can also increase their respiratory problems. In this way, rain and floods directly affect the health of children.

What diseases are more at risk due to rain and floods?

Flu and viral infection

Dr. Rakesh Bagdi of Pediatric Department in AIIMS It is said that bacteria and viruses spread rapidly due to increased humidity in the air during the rainy season. During this time, if children come in contact with dirty water or infected surface, they may immediately fall ill. In flu and viral infection, children see problems like sudden fever, sore throat, headache and fatigue.

Tomato fever

This disease is seen more especially in children younger than 5 years. In this, round rashes like red or tomato come out on the child’s body. Along with this, there are problems like high fever, throat pain, fatigue and weakness in the body. This virus can spread from one child to another very quickly, so it is necessary to take it seriously.

Dengue

In the rain, water accumulates everywhere and the dengue-spreading Aedes mosquito thrives. It bites during the day. Dengue shows symptoms like sudden high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, vomiting and whole body pain. The number of platelets in young children can decrease rapidly, which can be dangerous.

Malaria

The malaria spreads from the anopheles mosquito, which grows more in floods and dirty water areas. There are frequent high fever, shivering, sweating, headache and vomiting due to malaria in children. If there is no treatment for a long time, they can have anemia and weakness, which also affects their development.
