New Delhi [भारत]July 18 (ANI): Delhi Police has denied allegations of custodial death of a man. The family of the deceased had accused the policemen of assault.

Police called the allegations false, started investigation

According to the police, on July 14, three people, including the brother of the deceased, were found in an intoxicated state in Mehrauli area. Police said only the deceased’s brother and one other person were taken to the police station for questioning, while the deceased was neither taken into police custody nor brought to the police station.

Police further said that the deceased was suffering from tuberculosis (TB). Rejecting the allegations, Delhi Police said that these claims are false and a vigilance investigation has been initiated in the matter. Police also said that the exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem investigation. Further details are awaited.

Murder by stabbing in Mangolpuri, family blames police

Earlier, in a separate incident on July 7, a 45-year-old man named Mahesh was stabbed to death while his brother was injured in an attack by four to five men in Delhi’s Mangolpuri area. The victim’s family alleged that the police had failed to act on a previous stabbing incident involving the accused, and claimed that timely action could have prevented the murder.

According to Delhi Police, the incident took place in Mangolpuri area under the jurisdiction of Raj Park police station. One person died in the attack, while his brother was injured. Police said four to five accused fled from the spot after the alleged stabbing.

Speaking to ANI from the hospital, the deceased’s brother Mukesh alleged that the attackers attacked without any warning and said that the family had earlier approached the police regarding a similar incident. Mukesh said, “They suddenly came after me. I was stabbed, and when my brother came, he was stabbed in the chest. A year ago, they had stabbed my sister. No action has been taken in connection with that incident. They should be punished.” (ANI)
