LONDON (AP) – Igor Thiago marked his first call-up to the Brazil national team by scoring Brentford’s second goal in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Wolves in the Premier League on Monday.
The striker netted his 19th league goal of the season just before halftime, tapping into an empty net to contribute to the Bees’ performance.
Match Highlights
Brentford took the lead with a glancing header from Michael Kayode, who scored his first goal in his 41st league appearance. However, Wolves equalized shortly before the halftime whistle when Adam Armstrong found the net.
In the closing minutes of the match, Tolu Arokodare equalized for Wolves with a header, extending their unbeaten league run to three games, although they remain at the bottom of the table, 12 points adrift of safety.
Brentford’s Standing
With this result, Brentford remains in seventh place, holding a two-point lead over Everton while trailing Chelsea by three points in the league standings.
Thiago’s Brazil Call-Up
Earlier on the same day, Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti announced Thiago’s inclusion in the squad for upcoming friendlies against France and Croatia, scheduled for March 26 and March 30, respectively.
Thiago, previously with Cruzeiro, Ludogorets, and Brugge, is among nine forwards selected for the 26-man roster, which notably does not include Neymar, who has faced criticism for his recent performances.
