In Chhattisgarh, mass marriage of 6,412 couples took place under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana. This event set an example of social harmony and got its name registered in the Golden Book of World Records. Couples from different religions participated in it.

Raipur, 16 March 2026/ Chhattisgarh has registered its unique identity at the global level by achieving a historic achievement in the direction of social harmony, public participation and sensitive governance. The state level mass marriage ceremony organized under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana has got a place in the Golden Book of World Records. By solemnizing the marriages of thousands of couples in a single day, Chhattisgarh has presented such an inspiring example of social unity and spirit of Antyodaya, which is being appreciated across the country.

  • In this grand ceremony organized at the Science College grounds of the capital Raipur on February 10, a total of 6,412 couples from the entire state got married in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. Of these, the marriage of 1,316 couples took place physically in Raipur, while the remaining couples joined this historic event through virtual medium from different districts of the state. All marriages were conducted in accordance with religious traditions and social customs, making this event not just a government event but a grand celebration of social harmony and collective happiness.

Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 35 thousand was provided to every newly married couple.

Lakshmi Rajwade said that the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana was started under the leadership of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh and the present government is committed to giving it a more comprehensive form and taking it to the last person of the society.
