India Post to launch ‘Speed Post 24’ service for next-day delivery in six metros

New Delhi: India Post is all set to launch ’24 Speed Post’, a new service promising delivery of parcels and documents within 24 hours.

The Department of Posts (DoP) will launch the service on Tuesday to offer next day guaranteed delivery for urgent and time-sensitive consignments. It will be launched by Union minister for communications Jyotiraditya Scindia and minister of state for communications Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani at Rangbhawan Auditorium, Akashwani Bhawan in New Delhi at 12.30 pm.

Initial services to be available in six metro cities

In the first phase, the service will be available in six metro cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Along with this, the department will also offer Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48 services to provide assured D+1 and D+2 delivery timelines, enabled through dedicated processing windows and priority air transmission.

OTP-based secure delivery

The services will also include OTP-based secure delivery, end-to-end tracking with SMS alerts, buy-now-pay-later facility for business customers, free pickup for bulk bookings, API integration and centralised billing.

The service will include a money-back guarantee in case of delays.

Scindia at a program in January 2026 had announced about the services. “I am bringing two new products. One will be called Speed Post 24, which will deliver your Speed Post document to your home within 24 hours. The second is Speed Post 48,” he said at that time.
