SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Kraken secured a decisive 6-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Sunday night, propelling them into the second wild-card position in the Western Conference.
Bobby McMann, playing in his second game for Seattle, contributed significantly with a power-play goal and an assist.
McMann had already made an impact in his debut with two goals and an assist in a previous game against Vancouver. He transitioned to the Kraken from Toronto at the trade deadline after a delay caused by visa issues, which were resolved just before the game against Florida.
Game Highlights
In the matchup against Florida, McMann scored his 22nd goal of the season and assisted Jamie Oleksiak, who also recorded two assists. Alongside McMann, other Kraken players such as Ben Meyers, Berkly Catton, Ryan Winterton, and Kaapo Kakko contributed to the scoring, while Joey Daccord made 23 saves in goal.
Panthers Struggling
The Florida Panthers, two-time defending champions, find themselves in a precarious position, currently 11 points behind the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. If they fail to qualify for the playoffs, they would become the first team to miss the postseason after winning the Stanley Cup since the Los Angeles Kings in 2014-15.
Upcoming Matches
Looking ahead, the Panthers are set to face the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night, while the Kraken will host the Tampa Bay Lightning the same evening.
