MILWAUKEE (AP) – Giannis Antetokounmpo left the Milwaukee Bucks’ game against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday after landing awkwardly while completing a dunk late in the third quarter.
The Bucks ultimately secured a 134-123 victory.
After the incident, Antetokounmpo briefly continued playing, scoring another dunk on Milwaukee’s next possession. He attempted two free throws following a foul but subsequently left for the locker room and did not return for the remainder of the game.
Antetokounmpo’s Performance
In the 30 minutes he played, Antetokounmpo recorded impressive stats, including 31 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists. Despite his exit from the game, his performance contributed significantly to the Bucks’ win.
Coach’s Comments
Bucks coach Doc Rivers expressed concern about Antetokounmpo’s injury, stating, “My guess is he hyperextended his knee, but I’m guessing.” His comments reflect the cautious optimism surrounding the player’s condition following the incident.
Antetokounmpo’s Outlook
Antetokounmpo indicated that he would not pursue immediate imaging for his injury, sharing his belief that he could have continued playing. However, he decided to heed the advice of the Bucks’ training staff.
“I’m just going to go back home, sleep, see how I feel tomorrow, try to lift some weights,” he stated. “If I have a little bit of discomfort, then I’ll go from there. As of now, I’m not really bothered.”

The 31-year-old forward has faced significant injury challenges this season, missing a career-high 31 games. His absences have included two extended periods due to strains in his right calf. He also sat out a previous game against the Atlanta Hawks due to a sprained left ankle.
