New Delhi: BMW Motorrad has released a teaser for the 2026 BMW M 1000 R, confirming that the motorcycle will launch in India on March 16. The short video gives a glimpse of the bike’s aggressive naked-streetfighter design and hints at its performance-focused setup. The teaser mainly shows the silhouette of the bike and highlights the M Carbon winglets, which are designed to improve aerodynamics.
The M 1000 R is already sold in global markets and is considered the brand’s flagship naked roadster. It is based on the supersport platform of the BMW M 1000 RR but tuned for road use while still offering track-ready performance. Earlier versions of the bike were brought to India through the completely built unit (CBU) route, with prices starting at around Rs 33 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 2026 M 1000 R continues with the 999cc inline-four water and oil-cooled engine. The engine produces 205 hp at 13,750 rpm and has been tuned to deliver stronger mid-range torque from 10,000 rpm. BMW says the motorcycle can accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 3.2 seconds, while the top speed is listed at 173 mph.
The engine uses BMW’s ShiftCam technology, which adjusts valve timing to improve both performance and efficiency. The motorcycle also gets a titanium exhaust and other M-specific components aimed at reducing weight and improving performance.
Features, electronics and expected availability

The teaser also points to several performance-oriented parts. The bike gets fully adjustable suspension, while higher packages include semi-active damping. Electronics on the motorcycle include M Quick Action throttle and Drag Torque Control.
Riders will have access to multiple riding modes such as Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race, along with optional Pro modes for track riding. Braking duties are handled by M calipers with forged wheels, and the chassis is designed to offer sharp handling both on roads and racetracks.
BMW is expected to open bookings soon after the launch through its dealerships across India. Deliveries may begin after March 16, depending on homologation and availability.
