Max Dowman becomes youngest goalscorer in Premier League history as Arsenal inch closer to title

New Delhi: Arsenal’s Max Dowman became the youngest player to score in a Premier League game after finding the back of the net in his side’s clash against Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. 16-year-old Dowman scored the second goal for Arsenal in his side’s 2-0 win over Everton as the Premier League leaders inched closer to the 2025-26 title.

Dowman came on as a substitute in the game in the second half and made an immediate impact with his pace and skills. The winger found striker Viktor Gyokeres with a cross inside the box in the 89th minute to help Arsenal take the lead. He then scored a brilliant solo goal, completing an Arsenal counter-attack to make it 2-0 for his team in the 97th minute.

At 16 years and 73 days, Dowman broke former Everton player James Vaughan’s record for being the youngest to score in the Premier League. Vaughan was 16 years and 270 days old when he scored his first goal for Everton in the Premier League in the 2004-05 season.

Manchester City stumble as Arsenal move closer to Premier League title

Manchester City stumbled and lost ground in the Premier League title race as Arsenal inched closer to glory after beating Everton 2-0. Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham, who dented their hopes of competing with Arsenal for the 2025-26 Premier League crown.

Bernardo Silva put Manchester City ahead in the 31st minute, scoring with a chip over the West Ham goalkeeper. However, the Hammers managed to equalise just four minutes later, heading home off a corner from Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Anthony Gordon’s 18th-minute strike helped Newcastle United beat Chelsea 1-0 to bag their second consecutive Premier League win after they beat Manchester United in their last game. The defeat came as a huge blow to Chelsea’s top-four chances as they slipped to the 5th spot, behind Manchester United and Aston Villa, who both have 51 points each and are set to lock horns on Sunday.
