New Delhi: Shortly after US President Donald Trump announced the resumption of trade talks between the US and India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed confidence that the negotiations will pave the way for “unlocking the limitless potential” of their partnership. PM Modi also said that he was also looking forward to speaking with the US President.
Trump, in a post on Truth Social, said that India and the US are continuing negotiations to address the “trade barriers” between them. The US President also said that he was looking forward to speaking with “my very good friend, Prime Minister Modi, in the upcoming weeks”. “I feel certain that there will be no difficulty in coming to a successful conclusion for both of our Great Countries!” he wrote on his social media platform.
Responding to US President’s post, PM Modi said, “India and the US are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade negotiations will pave the way for unlocking the limitless potential of the India-US partnership.”
The Prime Minister further said that teams of New Delhi and Washington are working to conclude these discussions at the earliest. “I am also looking forward to speaking with President Trump. We will work together to secure a brighter, more prosperous future for both our people,” he added.

The cordial virtual exchange between the two leaders comes amid simmering bilateral tensions between the US and India over 50 per cent tariff imposition on New Delhi by the Trump administration.
