A special campaign is being run in Uttar Pradesh to connect eligible beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat Scheme. So far, more than 17.94 lakh Ayushman cards have been made in this campaign which started from January 15. 5.64 crore cards have been issued in the entire state, while Bareilly stands first in making cards.
Lucknow. Under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is running a special campaign in the entire state to provide Ayushman cards to the eligible beneficiaries left out under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
This campaign started on 25 November last year and will continue till 25 December 2025. During this period, more than 5 lakh 52 thousand Ayushman cards were made in the state. Seeing the success of the campaign, it was started again from January 15 this year, which is currently continuing.
In this new phase, more than 17 lakh 94 thousand Ayushman cards have been made so far. During the campaign, Ayushman cards are being made especially for Asha workers, Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi assistants and their families. In this campaign, maximum cards have been made in Bareilly district. After this, Jaunpur is at second place and Agra is at third place.
More than 5.64 crore Ayushman cards made in Uttar Pradesh
Archana Verma, CEO of SACHIS (State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services) said that under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Uttar Pradesh has become the state making the maximum number of Ayushman cards in the country.
So far, about 5.64 crore Ayushman cards have been issued in the state. Under this scheme, eligible families get the facility of cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh every year. Apart from this, under the Vaya Vandana Yojana, which is being run with the aim of providing health security to senior citizens, Ayushman cards have been made for about 25 lakh 70 thousand elderly people aged 70 years and above.
More than 17.94 lakh cards were made under the special campaign
Archana Verma said that the Yogi government is running a special campaign in the state to connect such eligible beneficiaries with the scheme, whose cards had not been made yet. The first campaign ran from 25 November to 25 December 2025. Considering its success, it has been restarted from January 15 to April 15.
Till March 12, more than 17 lakh 94 thousand Ayushman cards have been made under this campaign. This campaign is being run in coordination with the Health Department, Panchayati Raj Department and Women and Child Development Department. Ayushman cards are being made on the spot by identifying and verifying eligible families through volunteers and local workers at the village level.
Bareilly district ranks first in making Ayushman card
The progress of the districts has also come to light during the special campaign. In this, maximum number of 1,12,855 Ayushman cards have been made in Bareilly district, due to which Bareilly stands first in the entire state. After this, Jaunpur is at second place by making 83,042 cards and Agra is at third place by making 76,702 cards. Prayagraj has got fourth position by making 74,252 cards and Azamgarh has got fifth position by making 70,266 cards.
Ayushman cards are also being made for the families of Asha and Anganwadi workers
SACHIS ACEO Dr Pooja Yadav said that in this special campaign, special attention is being given to making Ayushman cards of Asha workers, Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi assistants and their families. About 4.28 lakh Asha workers and their family members in the state are covered under the scheme. Of these, till March 12, Ayushman cards of about 3.24 lakh people have been made, while cards of about 1.03 lakh people are yet to be made. The maximum number of cards in this category have been made in Kushinagar district, where 6,620 cards were issued.
Special initiative for Anganwadi workers and assistants also
About 2.17 lakh Anganwadi workers and their families in the state come under the scope of the scheme. Out of these, Ayushman cards of about 1.53 lakh people have been made, while cards of about 64 thousand beneficiaries are yet to be made. The highest number of cards in this category have been made in Ambedkarnagar district, where 3,176 cards were issued.
Similarly, out of about 2.32 lakh Anganwadi assistants and their families of the state, Ayushman cards have been made for about 1.51 lakh people. Currently, cards of about 81 thousand people are yet to be made. In this category also, Ambedkar Nagar district is at the forefront by making 3,077 cards.
Ayushman cards also made under zero poverty campaign
Ayushman cards are also being made for members of poor families identified under the Zero Poverty campaign being run by the government. The maximum number of cards in this category have been made in Varanasi district. After this, a large number of Ayushman cards have also been made in Hapur, Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar districts. The government’s aim is that no eligible family should be deprived of the health protection scheme and all the needy people should get free treatment facilities.
