Raipur. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched the state government’s ambitious Gaudham scheme in a program organized at Guru Ghasidas Central University, Bilaspur. In the first phase of the scheme, operation of 29 Gaudhams has started in 11 districts of the state. The objective of this scheme is to provide safe shelter to destitute and nomadic cattle and to strengthen livestock conservation.

State’s first cow sanctuary to be built in Jogipur

During the program, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai also laid the foundation stone of the state’s first cow sanctuary in village Jogipur of Kota development block of Bilaspur district. The Chief Minister said that this cow sanctuary will be developed in an area of ​​about 184 acres. For its development, the state government has sanctioned Rs 1 crore 32 lakh in the first phase. After the completion of this project, arrangements can be made for the protection and care of about 2500 cows.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that mother cow is an important basis of Indian culture, faith and rural economy. He said that through the Gaudham scheme, the destitute and stray cows roaming on the streets will be given safe shelter. This will promote livestock conservation and give a new direction to cow service. The Chief Minister said that the state government is working with full commitment to promote cow conservation and cow service.

MoU with NDDB to increase animal husbandry and milk production

The Chief Minister said that an MoU has been signed with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to promote animal husbandry and milk production in the state. Under this, cow distribution program has also been started in many districts. This initiative is showing positive results towards increasing milk production in the state.

Better arrangements for fodder, water and care in cowsheds

The Chief Minister said that complete arrangements will be made for fodder, water and proper care for the cows in the cow shelters. This will also create new employment opportunities at the local level.

He also announced that all the Gaudhams established on government land of the state will now be known as “Surbhi Gaudham”. Training programs in animal husbandry, green fodder production and making useful products from cow dung will also be run. This will provide self-employment opportunities to rural people and strengthen the rural economy.

Expectation of reduction in road accidents

The Chief Minister said that this scheme is also likely to reduce road accidents. Because the destitute cattle will be kept at a safe place, so that they will not wander on the roads.

He informed that 10-10 Gaudhams will be established in all the development blocks of the state in a phased manner. Along with cow protection, this will also provide employment and self-employment opportunities to the people.

Cow Seva Commission said cow protection is a priority

Chhattisgarh Gau Seva Commission Chairman Visheshwar Patel said that mother cow is very important for our existence. He said that the state government is working with a well-planned action plan for cow conservation.
