Snehal Patil lifted the Open Women’s Singles title after defeating Shreya Chakraborty 9-11, 11-5, 11-7 in the final at the Picklebay Zonals – West, a PWR 700 tournament sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association, held at Dink in Hinjewadi, Pune, on March 13. Patil recovered after dropping the opening game and produced a strong response to win the next two games.
The contest remained competitive throughout as both players fought for control during the rallies. Patil eventually held her composure in the deciding game to secure the gold medal.
Chakraborty had started the match strongly and took the opening game 11-9. Patil responded quickly in the second game and levelled the contest with an 11-5 win. With momentum shifting in her favour, Patil maintained pressure in the deciding game and closed out the match 11-7.
Patil had earlier booked her place in the final after defeating Aaliya Ebrahim in straight games 11-6, 11-9 in the semi-final. The youngster had bounced back well in the tournament after losing her opening match in the group stage. She went on to win three of her four group matches and carried that form into the knockout rounds.
Chakraborty, meanwhile, progressed to the final after defeating Rithika 11-2, 11-7 in the semi-final. She remained consistent throughout the competition and lost just one match during the group stage before advancing to the title clash.
Interestingly, both Patil and Chakraborty shared a connection from the Indian Pickleball League. The two players had represented the Hyderabad Royals during the 2025 season. While they were teammates during the league campaign, the final in Pune saw them compete against each other for the title. The match added another chapter to their growing rivalry on the domestic circuit.
Despite falling short in the final, Chakraborty continued her impressive run this season. She recently secured a title at the Queens on Court event and has remained among the consistent performers in domestic competitions. Her runner-up finish in Pune added another medal to her campaign.

Pune has been witnessing six days of competitive pickleball at the Picklebay Zonals – West tournament being held at Dink in Hinjewadi from March 10 to 15. After four days of action, the event continues to draw strong participation, with close to 700 players competing across more than 25 categories.
