The IPL 2026 season has not even started yet controversies have started. This time the Sunrisers franchise is at the center of controversies. Kavya Maran’s franchise Sunrisers is in the headlines for two different reasons, one of which is the matter of buying a Pakistani player in the English league. In the auction held in The Hundred, Maran’s team Sunrisers Leeds has bought Pakistani spinner Abrar Ahmed, on which there is an uproar. Now Kavya Maran’s father’s company Sun TV Network has filed a case in the court against the most successful franchise of IPL, Chennai Super Kings.
Why did Sun TV file a case against CSK?
Sun TV Network, the company that owns the Sunrisers franchise in leagues around the world including IPL. Chennai Super Kings A civil case has been filed against him in Madras High Court. This case has happened regarding some promos of CSK, in which the media team of the franchise has used songs from Rajinikanth’s famous films, Jailer, Jailer-2 and Coolie. Generally, CSK uses music from Tamil films for its players, so that there can be maximum connect with the local fans.
Now the question is why has Sun TV expressed objection to this? Actually, films like Jailer, Jailer-2 and Coolie have been produced by Sun Pictures, a company of Sun TV Network. In such a situation, Sun Pictures gets the copyright on the film and its songs. Sun TV Network alleges that CSK has violated the copyright by using them without permission and hence a case has been registered against the franchise and has appealed to stop such use. There will be a hearing in the court regarding this on Friday 13th March.
