Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced that his military has destroyed military bases on Kharg Island, Iran’s largest oil export center. Trump warned that if the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz was disrupted, the US would destroy Iran’s entire oil network. Trump wrote on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’ that currently attacking oil production centers is being avoided on humanitarian grounds, but if Iran continues to provoke, this decision will be reconsidered.
The US Central Command has also confirmed the precise attack on Iranian military targets on Kharg Island. This island is very important for Iran because 90% of the country’s oil exports come from here. Oil prices are skyrocketing in the international market after Iran partially closed the world’s most important oil route, the Strait of Hormuz. Trump reiterated that the US Navy will directly intervene for the safe movement of ships.
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has strongly condemned the attacks on Iran’s southern coasts. He warned that if the oil production centers, which are considered the backbone of the country’s economy, are attacked, a befitting reply will be given. It is noteworthy that it has been two weeks since the ongoing conflict in West Asia and now international pressure is increasing to restore peace in this region.
