In such a situation, it is important that if you are taking milk, then buy it from a trusted place or buy milk of a good brand only. However, one needs to be careful while buying milk of big brands, because people sell adulterated milk in similar packets in their name. By using some simple methods given here, you can find out whether milk is adulterated or not.

Everyone from children to adults are advised to drink milk daily. We consume milk in some form or the other in our daily routine, hence adulteration in it can affect the health of your entire family. According to some reports, not only water but also things like detergent, urea, potassium dichromate, benzoic acid, hydrogen peroxide, salicylic acid are added to it, which are very harmful for health.

Another way to detect adulteration in milk is flow test. In this you put a drop of milk on the plate and then tilt it. If the drop of milk is flowing slowly and leaving a white mark behind, then your milk is pure, but if this drop flows rapidly then it is adulterated with water.

You can also test the adulteration of milk with pulses. You have to mix soybean or arhar dal powder well in milk and then dip red litmus powder in it. If it turns blue then the milk may be adulterated with urea or some other chemical. Adding litmus paper to pure milk does not change its color.

Most reliable test

Heat the milk and when it becomes lukewarm, add a few drops of iodine tincture in it. If it turns black then it is adulterated. The color of pure milk does not change by adding iodine tincture. Only the color of the tincture will be visible in this.

You can also identify its purity and adulteration by shaking milk. For this, you fill it in a bottle and shake it vigorously and if a lot of foam is forming then understand that detergent has been adulterated in it. Actually, it helps in making the milk appear more attractive white and also gives it a thicker appearance.
