Akasa Air’s big announcement, first MRO center to be built in Noida Airport

Domestic airline Akasa Air on Friday announced an important partnership with Noida International Airport. Under this agreement, a special facility center for aircraft repair, maintenance and overhaul (MRO) will be built at this new airport being built in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. According to the company’s statement, this MRO facility will be operated inside the airport premises itself. Many types of advanced services related to repair and maintenance of aircraft will be provided here.

Its objective is to strengthen India’s aviation infrastructure and develop Noida International Airport as a major MRO hub of the country. This project will make airline operations more efficient, provide employment to local people and also promote skill development in the region. This plant will be the first MRO unit of Akasa Air, commissioned in August 2022.

Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, said that this partnership will strengthen India’s MRO capability and create new opportunities for employment and skill development in the region. According to the company, this cooperation is an important step towards making India self-reliant in aircraft maintenance services. Besides, it will also promote new technology and better operations in the aviation sector.

In such a situation, it is necessary to develop strong domestic MRO capability, so that airlines can operate reliably and efficiently on a large scale. He said that such investments for Akasa Air are part of the company’s long-term growth strategy and will help in creating a more self-reliant aviation ecosystem in India. Earlier on March 6, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had issued an aerodrome license to Noida International Airport, which is considered a big step towards starting flight operations here soon.
