UAN’s Connection with Member ID
The UAN is a universal account number, a 12 -digit number that EPFO gives to every employee. This number connects all your PF information together. As you keep changing the job, you get different members ID for every job, but all those members IDs are added under your UAN.
Sometimes when changing the job, companies mistakenly give you a new UAN or any wrong member ID is added to the old UAN. This does not make your PF balance look properly, there is difficulty in withdrawing money and your entire PF service history goes wrong. In such cases, earlier you had to go to EPFO office and complete long processes, but now it is not so.
Easy way to improve online sitting at home
EPFO has launched a new facility so that you can delin on any wrong member ID related to your UAN by mistake. Meaning, now you will not have to go round the EPFO office, nor will you have to fill the form again and again. You can do this by logging into your UAN portal from mobile or computer.
For this, first go to the official website of EPFO and login with your UAN. There you will get the option of ‘De-Link Member Id’, select it and apply to select that wrong member ID. EPFO will remove the wrong ID from your UAN after examining your complaint.
