The longest range missile that Iran has, Sejil, has a range of only 2500 KM. That means it can never directly attack America with this missile. For this, Iran will need Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), which it does not have yet. ICBM missiles are capable of attacking from one continent to another.

Intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) were first deployed by the United States in 1959 and remain an important US weapon today. The range of ICBM ranges from 5000 to 15000 KM. That means almost every target in the world can be within its reach. Most ICBMs are built to carry nuclear warheads.
Features of ICBM missile
It reaches the height of space and then falls on the target, so its speed can be up to Mach 20–25 (about 24,000 km/h). In this missile, first the rocket is launched and goes up. After this it travels a long distance in space and later falls rapidly towards its target.
