Ajanta Caves
If you go to Maharashtra, you must definitely explore the Ajanta Caves located near Aurangabad. This place is a wonderful example of Indian Buddhist art. The construction of these caves is believed to be from around the second century BC to the fifth century AD. The biggest specialty of these caves is the wall paintings made here, which show the stories of the previous births of Buddha i.e. Jataka tales.
Ellora Caves
There are also Ellora caves in Maharashtra which are located at a distance of about 100 kilometers from Ajanta. Ellora caves are a wonderful example of art. There are a total of 34 caves, which represent Buddhism, Hindu and Jainism. It is believed that they were constructed during the tenth century.

Elephanta Caves
You must explore the caves built on Elephanta Island located in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai, which is called the city of dreams of Maharashtra. These caves, built between the fifth and eighth centuries, are mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is a statue of Trimurti Mahesh built here, which shows the three forms of Lord Shiva – the creator, the sustainer and the destroyer. Along with spirituality, this place is a wonderful example of art.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus of Mumbai, Maharashtra is not just a railway station, but has historical importance. It was earlier known as Victoria Terminus. It was built by British architect Frederick William Stevens in the late 19th century. In 2004, it got UNESCO World Heritage status. There is a combination of Victorian Gothic style and Indian architecture here. Its colored glass windows, turrets, pointed arches, and intricate stone carvings make it very special.
