The greatest all-rounder in cricket history, Sir Garfield Sobers i.e. Gary Sobers is no more. Former West Indies captain Sir Gary Sobers passed away at the age of 89. Sobers died due to age related problems. He was going to turn 90 on July 28 but he died on July 17, 11 days before his birthday. Gary Sobers, who came from Barbados and ruled the cricket world, is counted among the greatest players in the history of cricket. He was also the captain of West Indies for a long time.
Born on 28 July 1936 in St. Michael, Barbados, Garfield Sobers entered first class cricket in 1952 and then made his Test cricket debut in 1954. From here onwards, for the next 20 years, Sobers made Test cricket memorable with his tremendous batting and amazing bowling. Sobers, who batted with his left hand and bowled medium pace with his left hand and also sometimes spin, was equally excellent in fielding. This is the reason why he is considered the most successful all-rounder in cricket history.
