Taking major action on the Ayodhya-Lucknow National Highway, the GST Department seized about three and a half quintals of silver, silver jewelery and gold jewelery from a sports car at Ronahi Toll Plaza.
In a major action against tax evasion, the GST Department in Uttar Pradesh has recovered a huge amount of silver and gold jewelery from a sports car on the Ayodhya-Lucknow National Highway. During initial investigation, the person present in the vehicle could not produce valid documents related to the recovered goods. After this, the department seized the entire goods and started further investigation.
Goods worth crores found in sports car at Ronahi toll plaza
According to the information, the GST Department had received information that a large quantity of silver was being transported without valid documents through the Ayodhya-Lucknow National Highway. After this, the department along with the police conducted an intensive investigation campaign at Ronahi toll plaza.
During the investigation, a sports car was stopped and searched. Officials found about three and a half quintals of silver, a large quantity of silver jewelery and some gold jewelery from the car. The person present at the spot could not present valid bills and other documents related to their purchase or transportation.

Legal action will be taken if documents are not found
Additional Commissioner (Grade-1) Brijesh Kumar Mishra said that the recovered gold and silver has been confiscated. A notice has been issued to the concerned person and he has been asked to submit the necessary documents.
He clarified that if valid records are not provided within the stipulated time limit, other legal action will be taken along with imposition of penalty under the GST law. In view of security, the process of depositing the seized gold and silver in the treasury is being started.
GST evasion caught in Muzaffarnagar also
Earlier, the mobile team of the state tax department in Muzaffarnagar had exposed a case of interstate GST evasion. The investigation alleges that goods were being sent to Haryana without valid bill by preparing e-way bill in the name of an alleged fake firm of Meerut.
During the operation, a vehicle loaded with 10,070 kg lead ingots worth around Rs 20 lakh was seized. Information about the matter has also been given to DGGI of Haryana and SIB officers of Meerut. Both the cases have been kept under investigation under GST rules and the department is taking further action.
