PM Modi called Punjab’s AAP government ‘staunchly dishonest’ in Jalandhar. He alleged that law and order has collapsed in the state, drug addiction is increasing and the government has misused funds received from the Centre.
Jalandhar (Punjab) [भारत]July 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, calling it a ‘staunchly dishonest’ party. He accused the AAP government of failing the state on issues like law and order, drugs, corruption and misuse of public money. Speaking after inaugurating 75 redeveloped railway stations across 20 states under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in Jalandhar, PM Modi began his talk by invoking the history of Punjab. He said, “This ‘Sher-e-Punjab’ is the land of Maharaja Ranjit Singh… However, what is happening in Punjab today is not hidden from anyone. The reality of betrayal is being hidden here through advertisements.”
The Prime Minister said crime and extortion have taken over the state. He said, “Today law and order has broken down in Punjab. No one can tell when and where a gang war will break out or from which direction bullets will be fired.” He further said that police stations are also not safe and “they are often attacked”.
The future of the youth of Punjab is being ruined.
He said that the youth of Punjab are suffering the most loss. “The saddest thing is that the future of Punjab is being ruined. Drug smugglers are roaming freely, dragging the youth of Punjab into the quagmire of drug addiction.”
Stepping up his attack, PM Modi said that there is a lack of honesty and integrity in the party’s governance. “Serving the public requires honest intentions and a sense of integrity. However, the party currently in power in Punjab lacks both. It is known as a ‘staunchly dishonest party’,” he said.
Misuse of central money and loan game
He claimed that the Center has sent huge amounts of funds to Punjab in the last few years, but the funds are being misused. “The Central Government is making every effort to ensure that the people of Punjab get the benefits of all its schemes. Yet, under the rule of this ‘staunchly dishonest party’, a shameless game of plunder is going on. In the last 12 years, the Center has sent funds worth lakhs of crores of rupees to Punjab… The Punjab Government failed to utilize that money properly.”
He further said, “What is more, this loot is being carried out with borrowed money. Loans are being taken in the name of Punjab. While the state budget is spent on paying interest on this loan, those running the government are luxuriating in the same money.”
Legal cases against AAP leaders
PM Modi also attacked the party over the recent verdict against an AAP MLA by a Gujarat court. He said the decision was in relation to assault and extortion by government officials. “Just a few days ago, a Gujarat court sentenced one of their MLAs to 7 years in jail. This sentence was given for assaulting government officials and extortion. Extortion and illegal occupation have become the hallmark of their political system.”
Referring to AAP leaders’ numerous run-ins with the law, he said, “Many are currently out on bail in many similar cases. Just look at Punjab: the person appointed as health minister had to be sacked for bribery. A minister is facing serious charges like money laundering. Their MLAs are being caught red-handed taking bribes. If we keep counting like this, we will find very few people in their government and party who are clean from any taint.” Be free from.”
Criticizing AAP’s past promises and track record, PM Modi declared that the party’s ‘true colours’ are now visible to all. “Those who are in power in Punjab today used to boast with great arrogance that they would change the politics of the country. But today, the country is seeing their true colours. Just 2-3 days ago, a Delhi court convicted one of their leaders. He is accused of instigating riots and murder of an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer; and look at their shamelessness… They are questioning the court’s decision, looking at it through the prism of religion and faith, just because their The vote bank is at stake.”
Inauguration of rail and road projects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of rail and road infrastructure projects worth over Rs 5,470 crore in Jalandhar. He inaugurated 75 redeveloped railway stations including Jalandhar Cantt under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The inauguration of 75 AMRUT stations across 20 states is another important milestone under the AMRUT Bharat Station Scheme, one of the largest station redevelopment programs in the world. Developed at a cost of approximately Rs 1,570 crore, these stations have been transformed into modern, passenger-friendly facilities. Redeveloped in the spirit of ‘heritage and development’, the stations incorporate elements reflecting local culture, heritage and architecture. (ANI)
