BCCI bans its own employee, found guilty of attempting spot fixing

BCCI panel video analyst banned: BCCI’s Lokayukta has taken major action and banned one of its video analysts. This BCCI employee has been found guilty of offering spot fixing to a player. The name of this video analyst of BCCI is Raja Reddy. Raja Reddy had offered spot-fixing to Andhra Pradesh player Girinath Reddy before the quarter-final match of Ranji Trophy. This matter is of the year 2023-24 season. As soon as Girinath Reddy received this offer, he informed his team manager about it, after which investigation started against Raja Reddy and now he has been found guilty.

Who is Raja Reddy, what crime did he commit?

Raja Reddy is a video analyst who was roped in by BCCI. After the Lokayukta investigation, it came to light that Girinath Reddy told the investigation that Raja Reddy had made a corrupt approach to him. This incident took place before the quarter final match of Ranji Trophy when the match was to be played between Andhra and Madhya Pradesh. This match was played at Holkar Stadium from 23 February 2024 to 26 February. The player immediately informed his team manager Jugal Kishore. Both of them together complained about this to the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of BCCI. ACSU conducted the investigation under the provisions of BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Code.

During the investigation, ACSU recorded the statements of Raja Reddy, Girinath Reddy and team manager Jugal Kishore. The mobile phone and email accounts of the accused were also examined. Although Raja Reddy had deleted his WhatsApp chat with the player, but the player showed the screenshots and chat archives to ACSU, after which Raja Reddy’s problems increased. After completion of the investigation, it was found that Raja Reddy had contacted Girinath Reddy to influence the match. This is the reason why Raja Reddy’s job has been taken away and he has also been banned.
