Why was it declared a local holiday?

District administration says that all these festivals are very important from religious and social point of view in Kabirdham district. Similarly, Maha Ashtami of Dussehra and Bhai Dooj, celebrated after Diwali, is also celebrated here with traditional enthusiasm. Therefore, to facilitate people in celebrating the festival, a local holiday has been declared.
