What to do in Chaitra Navratri?

Perform Aarti. Worship a grand form of Maa Durga every day of Navratri. During the fast, eat fruits, milk, cheese, makhana, rock salt, water chestnut flour, buckwheat flour and sago.

Take special care of the cleanliness and purity of the house during the nine days of Navratri. Worship the girl on Ashtami or Navami day. Offer food to the girls.

What not to do in Chaitra Navratri?

Do not cut hair, beard, mustache or nails during Navratri. Avoid using mustard oil and sesame seeds in food. If Akhand Jyoti is lit, do not go out leaving the house empty. Completely stay away from Tamasic foods like meat, alcohol, garlic and onion. Do not consume tobacco at this time. Don’t get angry at anyone. Do not abuse anyone.
