Amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East, Iran has warned that the world should be prepared for $200 per barrel of oil. After this statement, global concern regarding the supply of crude oil has increased further. However, the International Energy Agency has suggested a big step to keep oil prices under control. This organization of 32 countries has planned to release 400 million barrels of oil from its strategic reserves. Under this, America will also release about 172 million barrels of oil in the market from its Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
Iranian officials have clearly said that their intention is to give an economic shock to the world for a long time. Iran’s military command spokesman Ibrahim Zolfakari warned America that the price of oil depends on regional security and the current situation has been made unstable. Therefore the world should be prepared for $200 per barrel oil.
attacks on ships in the gulf
According to the news agency Reuters, this war started after joint air strikes by America and Israel about two weeks ago on 28 February 2026. So far, about 2,000 people have died in it, most of whom are citizens of Iran and Lebanon. This war has also affected the global energy market and maritime transport. On Wednesday, news of attacks on three ships in the Gulf waters came to light. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard claimed that its forces fired on the ships that did not follow their orders. Iran has also said that until the attacks by America and Israel stop, the shipment of oil from the Gulf can be stopped. Iran claims that it has taken control of the Strait of Hormuz and has started laying mines in this sea route.
Oil prices rise again
At the beginning of this week, the price of crude oil had reached around $ 120 per barrel. Later it fell to around $90, but now it has increased again and has crossed $100 per barrel. Meanwhile, G7 countries America, Canada, Japan, Italy, Britain, Germany and France have decided to consider providing military protection (escort) to ships sailing in the Gulf, so that they can pass through the sea route safely.
